Transfer completed” – Newcastle sign £2.5m talent as Real Madrid star
Newcastle United ended the January transfer window with no first-team signings, adding to the feeling that PSR is continuing to hold us back.
However, while it may be of no help to Eddie Howe right now, it’s clear the club are investing in the future as Paul Mitchell’s pushes to sign a number of top teenage talents capable of developing into future stars.
Georgian talent Vakhtang Salia will arrive in August when he turns 18 and it looks like the club have now secured another young attacker, this time from Turkey.
Club confirm Newcastle move
Last week, we reported on big claims from Turkey stating that Newcastle looked set to sign 18-year-old forward Baran Yildiz.
A few days later, it seems the highly-rated youngster has now signed, with Super Lig side Gençlerbirliği now confirming the talented attacker has “completed” a move to Newcastle United.
General Manager Ali Ekber Düzgün said: “Baran Yıldız’s transfer to Newcastle United has been completed. Official signatures have also been made.
“One of our football players from our infrastructure [to the[ Premier League. His transfer to the team is an important success for both Gençlerbirliği and our player. I hope he successfully represents Gençlerbirliği abroad like Arda Güler. We wish him success in his career.”
Reports in Turkey claim he has signed a four-and-a-half year deal, with the transfer fee set to earn Gençlerbirliği an eventual £2.5m.
Real Madrid star responds to official post
Gençlerbirliği’s official media team have also confirmed that Yildiz has left the club, stating: “Good luck in your new adventure Baran” in a post on Twitter/X and Instagram.
Interestingly, Real Madrid star-boy Arda Guler – once targeted by Newcastle during his time at Fenerbahce – has now wished our new signing good luck on Tyneside, commenting on Gençlerbirligi’s Instagram post.
