Nottingham Forest exit announced as outcast moves to another country
Nottingham Forest look set to confirm their first transfer deal of the winter deadline day, with a forgotten midfielder set to make a loan switch to the Championship.
Deadline day began with James Ward-Prowse returning to West Ham United after an agreement was reached between the two clubs to terminate the free-kick specialist’s loan deal.
Given that Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare returned from injury, Ward-Prowse became obsolete in the Forest squad so the opening move of transfer deadline day was a logical one, but it hasn’t sparked a string of further deals.
Another potential outgoing could well be Emmanuel Dennis’ rumoured loan move to Watford but as of yet, no deal has been struck that would see the Nigerian forward leave the City Ground once more.
The EFL looks to be a destination for any Forest player looking for a late move for more first-team football, with another player in a similar boat to Dennis moving away on loan before the 11 pm deadline.
Forgotten Nottingham Forest man Lewis O’Brien completes Swansea switch
Lewis O’Brien was free to leave Forest in January after returning from a loan at LAFC in the MLS. A permanent deal would’ve been perfect for both parties given that Nuno Espirito Santo has never picked the midfielder in his time as Forest manager.
However, any deal would’ve sufficed on deadline day as Forest have announced O’Brien’s departure to Swansea on a loan deal until the end of the season.
A loan to Swansea will be O’Brien’s fourth temporary move away from the City Ground since he signed for the club in 2022, a remarkable feat considering that he has performed reasonably well in all of his loan adventures.
Middlesbrough local media loved O’Brien when he spent time on loan on Teeside, but he will now ply his trade in Wales for the remainder of the season, with his Forest future up in the air upon return.
