Dan James Hails Leeds United’s Dominant Victory Over Cardiff City
In an electrifying Championship encounter, Leeds United’s Dan James expressed his delight after their emphatic 7-0 victory against Cardiff City, highlighting the team’s transformation under the management of Daniel Farke. James played a pivotal role in the match, providing assists for two goals in the first half, as his accurate crosses found Brenden Aaronson and Manor Solomon, who made no mistake from close range.
What set this performance apart from previous outings was the unwavering determination exhibited by the Leeds side to continue pressing for more after the break. Following a solid 2-0 lead at halftime, they returned with even greater intensity, ultimately adding five more goals without reply.
James himself extended the lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute, slotting home from a Junior Firpo cross, before being brought down in the box to earn a penalty for Joel Piroe to convert in the 65th minute. As the match reached its conclusion, Willy Gnonto and Mateo Joseph also found the scoresheet, with Piroe adding the seventh goal in stoppage time, much to the delight of the home fans who had been chanting for that very number.
Speaking after the match, James reflected on the atmosphere and the team’s performance, stating, “We want eight at the end. Crazy, what a performance. Everyone chipped in. They came off eight games unbeaten and we thought it was going to be a tough game. But from the off, we were absolutely brilliant, we didn’t give them a sniff in the game.
“It was goal after goal, but at 2-0 we came in at half-time thinking we shouldn’t settle for being safe. In past matches, we might have eased off when ahead, but today we pushed on for more goals. It was crucial, especially in these home fixtures, to deny the opposition any real chances. Our second-half display was fantastic, and a special mention must go to Junior for his contributions after returning from injury, not to mention everyone else who played their part.”
