Juventus make fresh Lloyd Kelly approach after missing out on Newcastle United target
Newcastle United have had lots of interest in defender Lloyd Kelly.
Despite joining the club on a free transfer in the summer, Lloyd Kelly could soon be leaving Newcastle United.
In January, Newcastle rejected bids from Fenerbahce and Juventus for Kelly. The defender is in high demand even though he has only made nine appearances in the Premier League this season.
The 26-year-old has found game time hard to come by so far this season. Kelly has only played one minute of league football since December – Sven Botman’s return to Newcastle’s squad pushes him further down the pecking order.
Clubs across Europe have been keeping tabs on Kelly in January. Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund want Kelly on loan alongside Ligue 1 club Marseille.
Kelly is open to leaving Newcastle after becoming unhappy with this lack of minutes for the Magpies. The Englishman is contracted to the club until 2029, so it would take a hefty fee to get Newcastle to sell.
With the transfer window nearing its closure, Juventus look like they are beginning to make desperate decisions.
Juventus make late approach for Lloyd Kelly
Juventus are in desperate need of a centre-back due to injuries to key players. They have explored options across Europe, but they have once again returned to Newcastle’s doorstep to see if they can sign Kelly.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have made fresh contact with Newcastle for Kelly after missing out on Kevin Danso who now looks set to join Rennes.
Newcastle were linked with Danso after missing out on Abdukodir Khusanov, his teammate, to Manchester City.
Newcastle have a huge decision to make regarding Kelly’s future with just a couple of days left in the transfer window.
