Rangers star spotted in Germany with permanent transfer out of Ibrox back on the table

Rabbi Matondo is expected to leave Rangers this month and looks to be closing in on a transfer to Germany.

The Welsh winger has had a disappointing two-and-a-half year stint at Rangers following a £3m switch from fallen German giants Schalke 04.

But now the pacey 24-year-old winger could be set to return to Germany after being spotted in transfer talks at a hotel in Hannover.

Rabbi Matondo spotted in Germany

Rabbi Matondo has been spotted speaking to representatives in a hotel just yards from Hannover 96’s stadium.

The photos first appeared in German outlet Bild but have now been doing rounds on social media as Matondo closes in on a move out of Ibrox.

The report claims that Matondo is currently at the Courtyard Hotel in Hannover and is locked in discussions with sporting director Marcus Mann about a move.

At this moment there are still a lot of moving parts and it’s said that everything remains on the table.

That means Matondo could negotiate a loan deal, a loan with a purchase option or even a permanent transfer away from Rangers this month.

Hannover 96 currently play in Bundesliga 2 and are fifth in a tight promotion tussle this season, only three points off league leaders HSV.

Rangers set to cut losses on Rabbi Matondo

Rangers fans will be encouraged to see Rabbi Matondo in talks with Hannover 96 but will take the negotiations with a pinch of salt.

Talks between Matondo and Coventry City broke down earlier in the month after a disagreement relating to performance related bonuses/add-ons.

Rangers are expected to sanction the exit of Rabbi Matondo this month and get the winger’s salary off the club’s stretched wage bill.

Matondo is amongst the highest-earners at Rangers but has ultimately done little to repay either the faith or investment in his services in three seasons at Ibrox.
