West Ham are set to intensify talks to land a striker this January transfer window, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update on the situation.
It has become clear that the priority position for the club at present is landing a striker ahead of the window closure on Monday night, with Evan Ferguson understood to be the key target at present however the club have tested the waters elsewhere also.
Our club insider Ex has updated on the state of play with regards to Ferguson, with the club continuing talks with Brighton today, as our chances of landing the Ireland international increasing due to movements elsewhere in the market.
Ex has advised that the talks which are continuing have thus far been positive.
“West Ham are continuing negotiations for Evan Ferguson today,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon. “The news has emerged last night that Ferguson’s move to Bayer Leverkusen may have fallen through due to Al Nassr choosing to sign Jhon Duran over their forward Victor Boniface.
“If the club get this confirmed and are confident that his injuries are not long term then further negotiations with the hope of completing before Monday’s deadline will occur.
“West Ham are prepared to include an option or obligation to buy in the loan deal to try and get the deal over the line. Talks are continuing with Ferguson, they are going positively as the club tries to work towards a deal.”
The club are also understood to have made an enquiry for PSV striker Ricardo Pepi, with Ex providing an update as to where things stand at present on that potential move.
“Ricardo Pepi we believe did feature on a long list of potential alternatives to Ferguson,” added Ex.
“The move has came a surprise to a number of people in the club.
