Daniel Farke says two Leeds United players will miss Cardiff City clash, but two are fit again

Daniel Farke has delivered an injury update on his Leeds United squad ahead of Saturday afternoon’s clash against Cardiff City, amid the drama of the January transfer window.

Leeds have also been linked with signing Matt Targett, after reports earlier this week said The Whites had made an enquiry to sign the left-back.

“Pascal is back in team training, also Sam Chambers. Wöber and Patrick will be out for the game – they are the only two concerns,” Farke said in quoted published on Leeds United’s X account during the presser.

So, who does Ampadu replace? Does he start ahead of Ao Tanaka or Ilia Gruev, and who partners him in midfield. Leeds are at home and likely to dominate, so it could see Rothwell come in alongside Ampadu.

But Tanaka is the best option to go with Ampadu. Either way, it will see Gruev drop out of the side after he started in midfield against Burnley. Elsewhere, Junior Firpo is fit again and he could start at left-back.

Farke also has a decision to make up top – either Joel Piroe or Mateo Joseph with Piroe struggling for form in recent matches. Largie Ramazani’s form may convince Farke to hand the Belgian a run out, too.

Leeds United are reportedly looking to sign Southampton striker Cameron Archer and Daniel Farke has responded when asked about the forward in Thursday afternoon’s press conference.

“I checked my phone, nothing has happened. I like to be open and honest and transparent, I’m not a big fan of the January window. Players are overpriced. If you are top of the league, it’s difficult to improve.

“It could even be risky if you bring the wrong person in, I’ve spoken about this.
