Jota has signed a four-and-a-half year deal to secure a sensational return to Celtic…

As stated in MailSport, the 25 year-old winger will dramatically rejoin Celtic permanently – 18 months after leaving for a sizeable fee of £25m to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad. Now, Jota has penned a long-term contract at the Scottish champions to seal a remarkable return.

Jota deal always a priority for Brendan Rodgers

A winger was always a priority for boss Brendan Rodgers in the January transfer window and when the Portuguese fans favourite became available after falling out of favour in France with Rennes, the Celtic hierarchy made their move with Jota’s £9m arrival set to be confirmed in the next 24 hours.

Heading the other way to Brittany is Kyogo Furuhashi. Rodgers declared in his virtual media conference on Friday that the 30 year-old has long-desired for an exit from Celtic over the course of a long period of time.

The Japanese frontman netted on 85 occasions in 165 matches for Celtic during his trophy-laden three-and-a-half year spell in Glasgow’s east end. Rubber-stamping a £10m to Ligue 1 side Rennes, Celtic aim to step up their pursuit of a striker in the coming days before the window slams shut.

Meanwhile, Rodgers is also confident that Celtic can secure a six-month loan deal for Kieran Tierney. The Arsenal left-back looks certain to sign a pre-contract agreement which will see the 27 year-old rejoin his boyhood club on a bosman in the summer.

However, Tierney’s teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko is attracting interest from Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. A departure from the Emirates over the next week for the Ukrainian skipper would scupper any short-term loan for Tierney as Mikel Arteta does not want to lose his two-backup left-backs in the same window.

Scotland’s ‘January’ transfer window shuts on February 3 at 11pm. Celtic will be busy regarding incomings and outgoings – and as the Jota deal has proven, anything is possible.
