Rangers ace Ianis Hagi tells agents what transfer plans are in contract twist
Rangers attacker Ianis Hagi has told his agents that he wants to return to Italy, according to Pescurt.
The Romanian news outlet reported on 25 January that an exit in this transfer window does not seem to be on the cards as he’s focused on Gers until the end of the season.
While he wants to leave, a new contract at Ibrox also cannot be ruled out, but he’ll need to take a pay cut for that to happen.
Ianis Hagi may be in his final few months at Rangers
If there’s significant interest from clubs in the summer, Hagi is unlikely to accept a pay cut to remain at Ibrox.
After the contractual issue at the start of the season, the Romanian has shown he can contribute effectively, which should merit a new contract without a salary reduction.
His desire to return to Italy might be strong, but if Gers are willing to offer terms that reflect his contributions and potential, staying could be beneficial for both parties.
At Ibrox, the 26-year-old has the platform to continue his development in a competitive environment and securing his future there could lead to further successes, both for Hagi personally and for the team.
He has managed to win over Philippe Clement and has established himself in the strongest eleven for the team.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the talented Romanian attacker in the coming months.
In other Rangers, a club chief has issued a transfer update as their player wants to move to Ibrox in this transfer window.

Rangers will be working hard to repair damage done to Ibrox but a struggle to gain access to special materials or the need for an insurance claim could cause a hold-up, Keith Hackett has said.
