Armando Broja Everton loan termination: ‘Decision on Chelsea return made’

Chelsea striker Armando Broja’s immediate future on loan at Everton appears to have been decided, Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has reported.

Broja joined the Toffees on a season-long loan, which includes an option to buy, back in the summer transfer window

Since then injuries have been a major issue for the Albanian international who has started just two Premier League games for the club (Soccerway).

His last outing saw him stretched off after just 22 minutes after coming on a substitute as Everton beat Peterborough in the FA Cup earlier in the month.

Currently, the Toffees are unable to sign anymore domestic players on loan due to the fact they have Broja in their squad.

Despite the combination of those restrictions and the striker’s injury, Myers has now reported via X that Broja is set to remain at Goodison Park as he recovers from his injury.

The reporter did however note that the situation is something Chelsea will have to agree to, meaning things could change between now and the window closing on 3 Februar

There is likely to be some surprise among supporters of the club at this decision over the future of Broja this season.

It seems clear that Everton need to sign players in the current transfer window to give them the best possible chance of avoiding relegation.

Keeping Broja though blocks one of the ways they can add to their squad, so it makes little sense to do that if there are questions over how much he will actually play between now and the end of the season, unless it is being dictated from Stamford Bridge.

Scoring goals has of course been a big issue for the Toffees this season, and that could continue after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was forced off in the win over Brighton on Saturday (25 January).
