Newcastle ‘hold talks’ with 34-goal striker in fear of Alexander Isak exit – Report

  1. Newcastle ‘hold talks’ with 34-goal striker in fear of Alexander Isak exit – Report

Isak’s ability is unquestionable and his output this season has been one of the best in the Premier League. Thus, the media deem little old Newcastle unworthy of the Swede as they peddle their ‘big six’ propaganda drivel with constant links to the striker.

It would have to be a record-breaking sum to take the 25-year-old away from St. James’ Park. But, should any club succeed, sporting director Paul Mitchell will have his work cut out to find a top-quality replacement. And, according to a new report, he already has another free-scoring forward in mind.

Gyokeres identified in worst-case scenario?

Newcastle will move for Viktor Gyokeres if fellow Swede Isak is sold by the Magpies this summer, according to an exclusive from FootballTransfers.

After reporting on our interest in early December, they state that Toon officials have ‘held fresh talks’ over an ambitious move for the former Coventry forward.

The Sporting Lisbon forward has a €100 release clause attached to his contract, though the Portuguese side will accept a reduced fee for the sharpshooting striker who has already notched a stunning 34 goals so far this season.

If you’re going to lose your star man, then replacing him with one of the continent’s most sought after men is exactly the kind of statement Newcastle would need to make, not that we want to think about Isak leaving anytime soon.

Priority must be keeping Isak happy

Priority number one for PIF and Eddie Howe must be keeping Isak happy and within our future plans by any means necessary.

Whatever motivation the 25-year-old needs to remain a Newcastle player has to be met – though Gyokeres is a top striker, our star man feels irreplaceable.

We must show ambition, re-secure Champions League football and invest in our squad this summer if that’s what it takes, with all three factors key to this project, regardless of Isak’s needs
