Former Leicester City player in dire form defended by manager amid claims he’s overweight
Leicester City let a number of players leave the club over the summer, some of which have fared better than others.
Tom Cannon is set to join Sheffield United on a permanent transfer after he excelled while on loan at Stoke City in the first half of 2024/25 – scoring nine Championship goals.
Leicester City fans were in agreement about Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after the midfielder made his first Premier League start for Chelsea this past weekend.
A few more players were sent out on loan by the Foxes, while two stars left the club on free transfers.
Dennis Praet has returned to his home country of Belgium to ply his trade with Royal Antwerp.
Elsewhere, former Leicester striker Kelechi Iheanacho secured a move to La Liga outfit, Sevilla.
Sevilla manager defends Kelechi Iheanacho weight
The 28-year-old opened his account for the Spanish side in the first round of the Copa Del Rey against Las Rozas CF.
He scored his second goal in the following round of the competition but his form in La Liga this term has been dire.
So far, Iheanacho has made nine appearances for Sevilla in the Spanish top flight but is yet to provide a single goal or assist.
Amid his struggles for form, his current manager, Garcia Pimienta, has come out and defend the player, claiming weight is not the reason behind his poor performances, as per El Desmarque.
He said: “He is at his weight. In that sense we are very strict. I don’t know about this week that he has not trained for a while, but this time he has been.”
Kelechi Iheanacho could return to England
In the same interview, the Sevilla boss seemed to hint he’s open to letting the former Leicester man leave the club.
