SHOCKING REVELATION;Rangers confirm the return of former player to ibrox
Nathan Patterson looks destined for a transfer back to Rangers in the near future.
A return to Ibrox has been touted for the Scottish right-back, with Everton open to his sale if they can find a replacement [Daily Record, 3 January].
The 23-year-old moved to Goodison Park from the Glaswegian outfit in the summer of 2022 but hasn’t been able to make a mark in the Premier League.
Injury issues haven’t helped the defender, but he’ll evidently need regular game time to stake a claim in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad.
The Light Blues have an ageing James Tavernier in their ranks, who seems to be on his way out in the coming months.
Rangers need to pounce on Nathan Patterson transfer
Everton are interested in Ajax defender Devyne Rensch and hope to get a deal done for him in the summer on a free transfer [Algemeen Dagblad, 13 January].
The Eredivisie outfit’s director, Alex Kroes, revealed to Ziggo Sport (14 January) that they are open to his departure if the right offer is tabled in the winter transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether the Merseyside outfit will opt to sign the 21-year-old Dutch right-back in the coming weeks or wait until the summer.
In either case, Rangers have the opportunity to pounce on Patterson, who could seal his return to Ibrox.
The 23-year-old will evidently not want to be unsure about his game time at the Toffees, which will happen if Rensch moves to Goodison.
With a return to the Light Blues, the Scottish ace should be guaranteed minutes, considering Tavernier’s situation and Dujon Sterling’s emergence as a utility option.
This is certainly one to watch.
In other Rangers news, another player is now expected to leave with Rabbi Matondo before the 3 February deadline.
