Calvert-Lewin exit: Delegation jets into UK for Everton star deal
Atalanta have sent a representative to Goodison Park to push a move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton, according to Alan Nixon.
The journalist reported to his Patreon on Sunday (12 January) that the Italian outfit are making an attempt to sign the 27-year-old on a pre-contract arrangement.
Sending a representative to Merseyside could help tie up a deal but a big payday at Newcastle United could be on the cards if the striker waits for an offer.
As a result, the Serie A side will have to offer a lucrative deal to the ex-Sheffield United man and offer a transfer fee to win the race in January.
Atalanta in race to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton
It is safe to say that the former England international is going to be on his way out of Goodison either this winter or in the summer.
Even with the introduction of David Moyes, it appears that a contract agreement isn’t going to be reached and the forward is going to depart.
If the target man does make a move away from Merseyside, there is no lack of suitors for him to choose from ahead of next season kicking off.
Atalanta are clearly a true candidate to sign Calvert-Lewin and with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side flying high in Serie A, this would be an attractive prospect.
It will be interesting to see where the Toffees’ striker’s priorities lie over being a Champions League regular in Italy or shows a preference for more money at Newcastle.
It will be interesting to see where the Englishman goes but the L4 club will be hoping that they can receive some sort of fee rather than losing their star striker on a free.
