Team of Leicester City transfer target confirm player is joining unnamed overseas club
Leicester City fans are still waiting for their club to sign a player during the January transfer window.
Ruud van Nistelrooy issued a Leicester City transfer update ahead of the club’s FA Cup meeting with Queens Park Rangers this weekend.
It wasn’t the most exciting news from the Dutchman but it does look as though players will be signed despite PSR concerns that have emerged at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester have been offered Miguel Almiron of Newcastle United this week, but the Magpies are understood to want somewhere in the region of £17m for the player.
Jakub Moder has been of linked to the Foxes this week, with it obvious defensive reinforcements are needed.
Now, a target of the Midlands outfit is confirmed to be joining an overseas club in January.
Leicester City Hiroki Sekine set to join overseas club
Reports emerging from Japan in early December claimed Leicester scouted Hiroki Sekine during Kashiwa Reysol’s game against giants Vissel Kobe.
The 22-year-old has so far played 33 games for his current team, whom he joined on a free transfer in February 2024.
Less than a year after his arrival, however, Kashiwa Reysol have now confirmed via X/Twitter that the player is moving on to an overseas club.
They wrote: “Player will be leaving the team in order to prepare for a transfer to an overseas club. We plan to complete the necessary procedures locally and then enter into a formal agreement. We will provide further notice once the agreement has been concluded.”
Leicester City targeting budget full-backs
Though it’s not known if Sekine is joining Leicester, a transfer to the Midlands would make sense.
James Justin is the club’s only natural right-back at present and his form in 2024/25 has been woeful.
Furthermore, a report this week has detailed Leicester’s transfer plans for January, with budget full-backs said to be being targeted.
