Done deal: Roma agree to send Le Fee to Sunderland – Buy-out clause revealed

Multiple outlets in Italy are reporting that Enzo Le Fee’s transfer from Roma to Championship side Sunderland is now a done deal.

The Frenchman is expected to move to the Stadium of Light on an initial loan deal until the end of the season with an obligation to buy should Sunderland gain promotion to the Premier League at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, as was reported earlier on Wednesday afternoon.

How much will Sunderland pay to make Le Fee’s move from Roma permanent?

According to updates from transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Sunderland will pay a fee of €23m to make the move permanent should they end up in the top two, or gain promotion via the Championship play-offs this season.

That is the same fee (€23m) that Roma paid to sign the 24-year-old from Rennes during the summer transfer window.

The Black Cats currently sit in fourth place in the Championship table, comfortably clear of Middlesbrough in fifth, who are nine points below them. They sit just three points off the top of the league standings.

A move to Sunderland will bring a reunion between Le Fee and coach Regis Le Bris, as the pair worked together at Ligue 1 outfit Lorient during the 2022-23 season.

Sunderland have agreed a deal to sign Enzo Le Fee from Roma, it has been claimed. The 24-year-old, who joined the Serie A side for £19million from Rennes in July, is set for a reunion for Regis Le Bris on Wearside.

Le Fee and Le Bris worked together at Lorient during the 2022/23 campaign – a season in which many feel showed the best of the former France international midfielder. In fact, Le Fee (41) created the third-most open play chances and secondary chances in Ligue 1 that season – only Lionel Messi (49) and Neymar (49) had more.
