DEAL CONFIRMED;Leeds united confirm return of former star player

In the summer, five players left Leeds United on loan and a few months later, a handful of the club’s U21 stars left for non-league clubs including the second string’s top-scorer Luca Thomas.

Darko Gyabi and Sam Greenwood joined Championship clubs Plymouth and Preston, while Sonny Perkins dropped a division to rejoin boyhood club Leyton Orient. Jack Harrison and Rasmus Kristensen, too.

They saw their relegation clauses become active again and joined Everton and Frankfurt respectively. The close of the window did not stop some of Leeds’ U21 stars from going on loan to non-league teams.

Thomas joined York City and scored on his debut, while Joe Richards went to South Shields and stopper Daryl Ombang has spent time at Farsley Celtic. Meanwhile, Cian Coleman went to Buxton temporarily.

Cian Coleman posts on Instagram after Leeds return confirmed

Midway through October, 20-year-old Coleman joined National League North side Buxton. Initially a month’s loan, Coleman saw his temporary spell extended until January after an excellent run of form.

So much so that Ireland Under-19 international Coleman won Buxton’s October Player of the Month award shortly after joining. He finished his time at Buxton on Tuesday, having made 12 appearances.

The midfielder posted on Instagram a message to Buxton fans after Leeds recalled Coleman, ending his loan with stats of four goals and two assists in 12 games. He said: “Enjoyed every minute. Thank you.”

Cian Coleman will have two questions for Leeds United after loan

The first is Coleman’s immediate future. His form in the sixth tier of English football was impressive and Leeds may have decided not to extend his loan in order to send him to a club higher up the pyramid.
