Vurnon Anita, the former Newcastle United and Leeds United midfielder, is currently a free agent after leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Orobah in the summer. Anita, who had a varied career, was initially signed by Newcastle in 2012 for £6.2m from Ajax. Despite not making many high-profile signings that summer, he became an important squad member, offering versatility by playing in multiple positions, including midfield, left-back, and right-back. His adaptability earned praise from manager Rafa Benitez, particularly during their promotion-winning season back to the Premier League. After his spell at Newcastle, Anita moved to Leeds United, where he played briefly before moving to clubs in the Netherlands, Bulgaria, and most recently Saudi Arabia.
In addition to his football career, Anita has pursued a career in music, releasing rap music under the name JR (Vurnon Anita). His footballing career, however, seems to be winding down as he remains without a club at the age of 35.
