Leicester City boss discloses what his players are ‘talking about’ ahead of Man United clash

Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has called for his team to “shine” at Old Trafford as they seek revenge against Manchester United after being knocked out of the Carabao Cup last month.

The Foxes go into today’s game after securing a last-minute point against Ipswich Town, which means they are just two points behind United in the Premier League.

In his press conference ahead of the game, Cooper revealed what his players are talking about as they prepare to face United.

He also stressed that climbing the table is not their primary focus.

“We’re not going into the game with that in mind,” Cooper said.

“We have to have belief in the game plan. It’s not something we’re talking about. We’re talking about getting certain players in certain positions and having an impact on the game.”

Cooper demands belief from his players, no matter who they are playing, and he stressed that to reporters.

“You can go anywhere and create anything. There are no guarantees. Whatever we want to get out of any season is not going to be through good fortune, it’s going to be delivering when it counts. We want to shine at Old Trafford and show who we are.”

Steve Cooper vs Ruud van Nistelrooy: Final game for Dutchman as interim boss

In the opposite dugout will be Ruud van Nistelrooy as he takes charge of his final game as interim manager.

The results have picked up under the Dutchman following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, with a win in the Carabao Cup, a long-awaited win in Europe and a draw against Chelsea in the league.

That being said, United have looked far from convincing in their last two matches but it will be seen as a positive that we haven’t lost any matches.

Van Nistelrooy will be looking to finish up his role as interim manager unbeaten in a game United should be collecting three points without any excuses.
