Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn has earned a spot in UEFA’s Champions League Team of the Week following his standout performance in the club’s 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old played a crucial role in turning the game around after the Hoops fell behind early at Parkhead, delivering what’s got to be his best performance since joining Celtic in January.
Facing his former academy team, Kuhn displayed composure and flair to bring Celtic back into contention. His first goal was a moment of brilliance—a delicate hit that struck the post before nestling into the net, levelling the score. Just before the half-time whistle, Kuhn made his presence felt again by pouncing in the box to sweep home a second, giving Celtic the lead and electrifying the home crowd.
Kuhn’s first goal was further acknowledged by being nominated for UEFA’s Goal of the Week and Player of the Week awards, finishing third in the latter. His influential display solidified his place in UEFA’s prestigious Team of the Week, underscoring the winger’s impact on a night that saw Celtic outclass their Bundesliga opposition.
Celtic are on a high as they prepare to host Club Brugge at Celtic Park in just under three weeks time, where they’ll look to make it four wins in a row in the Champions League at home.
