It has been almost a year since Gavi has been out of action for Barcelona, as the midfielder had picked up an injury in November of last year.
However, Barça fans may soon be dealt with good news, with Gavi rapidly progressing on his road to recovery.
Barcelona not looking to rush Gavi’s return
A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered a comprehensive update on Gavi’s fitness, confirming that Hansi Flick is indeed impressed by the midfielder’s commitment and early showings in training.
However, Barcelona are not too keen on rushing Gavi back onto the pitch, knowing how other young players such as Ansu Fati and Pedri have struggled with injuries in recent years.
It must be noted that Barcelona have been recently boosted by the return of Frenkie de Jong. And given the way the other midfielders are performing, the club have no reason to put pressure on Gavi.
When will Gavi play again?
The report suggests there is a possibility that Gavi could be included in Barcelona’s squad for the next match against Sevilla, right after the international break.
However, nothing has been determined yet. Barcelona, though, are concrete about the fact that whenever Gavi returns to the squad, the priority will be to get him back to full fitness and not necessarily force him to play every game.
Barcelona’s idea is to make Gavi return to his hundred percent two weeks after he marks his return to the pitch. Therefore, it won’t be surprising to see the youngster not returning to fully-fledged action until November.
