View: Tottenham takeover surely edging closer as fresh investment talks are held

Daniel Levy is continuing to hold investment talks at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Levy and the club’s current owners, ENIC, aren’t exactly the most popular people in North London.

While the chairman continues to help boost the club commercially, there remains frustration among supporters with the lack of progress on the pitch.

Tottenham have all the potential to push on, with the infrastructure already in place to make them a footballing powerhouse.

However, they just haven’t been able to push on to that next level footballing-wise. As a result, supporters would no doubt be keen to see brand-new, more ambitious owners take the reigns.

Therefore, a recent update on investment talks at the club will have come as music to supporters’ ears.

As reported by the Sun on Sunday (page 56, 22 September), Mehrdad Ghodoussi was present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal (15 September), as investment talks continue.

Ghodoussi was a VIP guest during the North London derby, with a potential cash injection discussed in the background to what was a frustrating afternoon for Ange Postecoglou and his players.

Amanda Staveley, Ghodoussi’s wife and business partner, has put a team together with Middle Eastern cash and other backers to buy a percentage of Tottenham.

As a result, this could perhaps open the door for a full takeover at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Amanda Staveley to spearhead takeover at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Should Staveley succeed in purchasing a part of Tottenham, a full takeover might not be too far off.

It isn’t clear exactly how much of the club Staveley and her team are looking to purchase. However, if it is a significant amount, it could make acquiring a majority share more straightforward in the future.

Spurs have rocketed in value since ENIC took over, and the Americans could be looking for a way out.

What that would mean for chairman Levy is unclear. However, it is no secret that the club are open to investment.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume that the potential of a full takeover has been discussed, either internally or externally.
