The Miami Dolphins are facing mounting injuries at quarterback, leading some to suggest the team could bring back a familiar face.

The team already lost starter Tua Tagovailoa for an indefinite time after he suffered a concussion in the team’s September 12 loss to the Buffalo Bills, then saw backup Skylar Thompson knocked out of Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Thompson was ruled out after suffering a chest injury early in the third quarter, forcing new addition Tim Boyle to finish the game.

During his action in the first half, Thompson completed 13-of-19 passes for 107 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. After the game, some suggested the Dolphins look to free agent Ryan Tannehill. The former Dolphins starter remains a free agent after his $118 million contract with the Tennessee Titans came to an end.

“If the Dolphins really think a combination of Tim Boyle, Skylar Thompson, and Tyler Huntley is good enough to get by until Tua’s back, then their season is over,” noted reporter Zach Brook in a post on X. “Go call Ryan Tannehill”

Tannehill has expressed interest in returning to the NFL for another season, but said he wants to wait for the right opportunity.
