Glasgow, Scotland – Tragedy struck the Rangers FC community early this morning as club captain, Glen McGregor, was involved in a fatal car accident on the M8 motorway near Glasgow.
According to Scottish police, McGregor’s vehicle collided with another car at approximately 2:45 AM local time. Emergency services rushed McGregor to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The passenger in McGregor’s vehicle, a 28-year-old male, also lost his life in the accident. The driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Rangers FC has released an official statement:
“We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved captain, Glen McGregor. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and teammates during this unimaginable tragedy.”
McGregor, 32, joined Rangers in 2017 and quickly became a fan favorite, leading the team to two Scottish Premiership titles and the 2020 Scottish Cup.
