Leicester, England – Leicester City Football Club has parted ways with their head coach, Dean Copper, due to a disagreement with the club’s chief executive, Susan Whelan.

The decision was announced on Wednesday morning, with the club stating that Copper’s departure was a result of “irreconcilable differences” between the two parties.

“We regret to announce that Dean Copper is no longer the head coach of Leicester City,” Whelan said in a statement. “Despite his contributions to the club, we have been unable to resolve our differences, and it is in the best interest of the club to move forward.”

Copper, who took charge of Leicester City in 2022, had been instrumental in the team’s push for a top-seven finish in the Premier League. However, sources close to the club suggest that tensions between Copper and Whelan had been building for several months.

The disagreement reportedly centered around transfer policy, player selection, and the club’s overall direction. Copper had been pushing for more autonomy in transfer dealings, while Whelan was keen to maintain a more hands-on approach.

Assistant coach, Mike Stowell, will take temporary charge of the team until a permanent replacement is appointed.
