Rangers will have to wait for Lutsharel Geertruida to leave Feyenoord before they can sign Neraysho Kasanwirjo, according to ESPN.

The online outlet reported on 30 August (09:32am) that there is a good chance that the 22-year-old will move to Ibrox but has to be patient.

The Eredivisie side are waiting to complete the £21million sale of Geertruida to RB Leipzig, who is set to undergo medical tests [Fabrizio Romano], before letting the defender go.

Once that is completed with the Bundesliga outfit and a medical is completed, the Gers can sign the Dutchman on loan for the season [1908.nl].

Rangers must be patient for Neraysho Kasanwirjo deal

The versatile defender is on his way to Ibrox to complete a deal but now looks to be held up by another sale from Rotterdam on Deadline Day.

Philippe Clement will be keen to get this move done as his side prepare for the first Old Firm clash of the season on Sunday (1 September).

It has been a frustrating window as a whole for the Belgian to compete with with a high volume of key players moving on.

This makes bringing in Kasanwirjo all the more important to fill out the squad ahead of a season fighting on all fronts.

The Dutchman will offer some much-needed versatility to the Light Blues, having the ability to play in multiple positions across the back line.

This will prove to be useful as cover for late sales like Ben Davies and for when injuries take their toll on the side as the campaign goes on.
