Rangers are reportedly keen on securing Anderlecht midfielder Kristian Arnstad before the transfer window closes, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper, in an article on 27 August, revealed that the 20-year-old has expressed his desire to leave the Belgian club. To bring the Norwegian to Ibrox, Rangers will need to meet a £1.2million fee before the transfer deadline on 30 August.

Rangers should approach the pursuit of Arnstad with caution.

Their interest in Arnstad must be guided by a well-thought-out strategy, especially as they trail Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Acquiring Arnstad for £1.2million could be a sound investment, not only financially but also for enhancing squad depth and forward planning.

Rangers require players who can make an immediate impact in the starting eleven, offering the quality needed to influence the outcome of Old Firm derbies and critical league fixtures.

Arnstad’s ability to become a game-changer is key. He must not only adapt to the team’s tactical approach but also elevate its overall performance.

With the intense competition in the league and the urgent need to close the gap with Celtic, any incoming player, especially someone like Arnstad, should be expected to be a first-team regular who can decisively affect games.

At this stage, Rangers cannot afford to sign players who simply bolster the squad. Each signing needs to be a deliberate step towards regaining the title.
