Ianis Hagi sends Rangers transfer message – ‘I want to make it clear…’

Rangers midfielder Ianis Hagi has given a message on social media addressing “noise and speculation” linking him with an exit from Ibrox.

The 25-year-old took to Instagram and posted a story on the site (27 August, 8:21pm), which stated that he has “loved” playing for the Gers during his time at Ibrox and made his position at the club clear.

Romanian international Hagi stated that he has never asked to leave Ibrox, and instead told the club that he is always willing to make himself available, as long as that position is reflected on ‘both sides’.

Hagi said: “I want to make it clear, I have never once asked to leave this football club.

“I will always make myself available, and there’s always a way to navigate around any situation if there’s a will on both sides and that was communicated officially weeks ago by me and my team.

“I’m here, willing and Rangers Ready to help, work and fight for the Club, Team and Manager.”

Ianis Hagi transfer message suggests return to Rangers fold

For the vast majority of the summer, Hagi and Gers team-mate Todd Cantwell have been as far from Philippe Clement’s as could possibly be, doing potential damage to their potential transfer values [Keith Jackson, 12 August].

With three days of the transfer window remaining, Hagi’s Instagram message is hardly a call-to-arms for other interested sides to pounce on a player forcing his way out of Auchenhowie.

In fact, it’s quite the opposite – making clear that if he is brought back into the first-team fold by Clement, the Romanian will do his utmost to ensure that he has a positive effect on the side.

Hagi and Clement are in fact yet to share pitch and touchline respectively since the Belgian’s arrival at Ibrox, due to the 25-year-old being out on loan with La Liga side Deportivo Alaves last season.

The message from the Romanian international makes it clear that he is willing to fight for his place and fill the number 10 void at Ibrox this season, and it’s now up to Clement to respond, one way or another.
