Leeds United had been expected to complete and announce the signing of Manor Solomon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday or today, but now there are said to be difficulties.
Solomon, 25, emerged as an option for Leeds as The Yorkshire club look to bring in replacements for Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville. Of course, Largie Ramazani has been signed by The Whites.
Israel star Solomon is said to have been at Leeds to do a medical ahead of a season-long loan to Leeds. The connection between Tottenham and Leeds is strong, since the arrival of Gretar Steinsson at Leeds.
Joe Rodon and Djed Spence joined on loan last season, before Archie Gray swapped clubs and Rodon was signed by Leeds permanently. Now, former Fulham star Solomon could be the next to end up at Leeds.
New twist in Leeds push to agree Solomon loan deal
Solomon had been expected to join Ramazani in becoming a part of Daniel Farke’s new-look Leeds attack either on Sunday or today. But, reporter Shay Lugassi has delivered a Solomon update on social media.
He says that Solomon – who managed just six outings for Spurs last season after tearing his meniscus – has passed a medical at Leeds but a move is “uncertain” with finances separating Leeds and Tottenham.
Indeed, head of renowned Barcelona page Barca Times, Lugassi said that talks are continuing between the two parties to try and find a resolution. However, the player’s camp may consider new options.
“MANOR SOLOMON UPDATE: The move to Leeds United is not certain! Solomon has completed the medical tests but there are quite significant financial differences between the clubs,” Lugassi reported.
“Talks continue between the parties. The player’s camp also does not rule out additional options before the window closes,” the reporter continued, throwing Solomon’s move to Leeds into significant doubt.
Solomon possibly too good to be true as Leeds struggle
When news of Solomon’s arrival first emerged, it immediately seemed like a massive coup. A player that has starred in the Premier League and won numerous league titles with Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine.
Able to play on either flank or in the 10 in the Championship, he would be a game changer in the second tier. Jamie O’Hara reached to the news Solomon could join Leeds by saying he could “rip up” the league.
There is no doubting that Solomon is a top player and probably, wouldn’t be considering a move to Leeds had he not picked up an injury. But, it now sounds a move was always too good to be true.
