Philippe Clement will undoubtedly be fuming at the Rangers recruitment team as Abdallah Sima has left Brighton loan.

The Senegal international has officially sealed a season-long move to Stade Brestois 29, the Ligue 1 side confirmed on 21 August.

After an impressive loan spell at Ibrox last season, Clement wanted to re-sign the 23-year-old and even confirmed that talks were ongoing with Brighton.

However, he had admitted that the Seagulls were demanding too much for a permanent transfer but the fact that he left on loan does not make good reading for the backroom staff at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement does not get an Abdallah Sima reunion at Rangers

Given the number of exits in the summer and the lack of quality replacements over the last few weeks, Clement would’ve wanted someone quality through the door.

Sima would be the best player in attack for the Gers had he joined as he proved his credentials last season at Ibrox.

As recently as 8 August, Chris Jack revealed that the chances of him returning to the club before the transfer deadline were not dead.

That means the Ibrox outfit were still working on a deal and if for two months they could not convince Sima to join, it just shows how poorly the recruitment team has been functioning.

However, now that an official announcement has been made, the deal is dead and Gers have to target other players.

Hopefully, they do have alternatives ready to bring to Ibrox in the coming days as time is running out.
