Todd Cantwell torn to shreds by BBC pundit amid Rangers transfer development

Rory Loy has criticised Rangers player Todd Cantwell for telling Philippe Clement that he wants to leave Ibrox.

The former striker for the Gers feels that he has failed since relocating to Ibrox and has battled against Celtic in Old Firm derbies.

Clement has publicly said that the 26-year-old has not been selected for first-team matches because he wants to leave the team.

As reported by Football Scotland on August 18, Loy remarked on BBC’s Sportsound, “One thing that baffled me when Clement came out and spoke about Cantwell, he said Todd Cantwell was honest with him and said he wanted a new challenge.”

“I am utterly incapable of comprehending that.” He has come up here, taken home a trophy, seen Celtic dominate, and missed all the Old Firm games.

He consistently loses to Callum McGregor; it seems like he’s trying to avoid a challenge! Which kind of fresh challenge are you looking for? Not only that, but he needs to be professional and accessible for selection; Clement can choose to keep him on the transfer list or in another position.

“I understand that it can be challenging for a manager to select a player who makes such statements, but Todd Cantwell is bound by contract to give Rangers his all; he must play and could earn a move through his play. He’s rotting away in the reserves and getting paid for it, so if the appropriate opportunity doesn’t present itself, he won’t be in a rush to relocate because he’ll undoubtedly be making a good living.

“Philippe Clement’s hands are tied; he’s not selecting him, he’s not receiving offers; he has a guy sitting there who could improve the squad, but he’s absolutely failed at his current assignment, and he says he wants a new challenge. The entire circumstance is perplexing.

Rangers need to get a substitute signed right away or get Todd Cantwell back on the squad.

Cantwell’s absence causes an imbalance in the squad, therefore Gers needs to move quickly.

The midfield lacks depth due to his desire for a new challenge, which could hurt the team’s performance in important games.

Cantwell’s return could close this gap and add competition to the team, which might inspire other players to step up their play.

In addition, the Englishman may be able to prove his worth to stay or improve his transfer value in this circumstance.

Alternatively, Cantwell’s dedication is guaranteed, and continuity and strategic planning are ensured by appointing a replacement.

Either choice is essential to keeping Germany competitive in the home and European markets, preventing stagnation, and making sure that the team does not falter for want of options in critical positions.
