Hannibal Mejbri is the “most likely” player to leave Manchester United, according to Manchester World, and Rangers will surely be pleased by the news.

The fact that the Tunisia international was left out of the matchday squad against Fulham on 16 August further proves that Erik ten Hag does not rate him highly.

Ten Hag opted to put young midfielder Toby Collyer on the bench instead of Mejbri, despite the 20-year-old not making his first-team debut until last week.

Mejbri also appears to want out of Old Trafford amid links with a move to Ibrox and has handed in a transfer request already. [Buzz News Tunisia, 12 August]

Rangers must now make a bid for Hannibal Mejbri

Given the circumstances, the next strategic move for Gers should be to place a bid for Mejbri.

His transfer request and exclusion from Manchester United’s matchday squad against Fulham indicate a clear disconnect between him and ten Hag, suggesting that United might be more open to negotiations than usual.

Rangers need to act swiftly to capitalize on this situation.

If Manchester United’s asking price seems too steep for an outright purchase, Gers could explore a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy at the end of the season.

This approach would allow the Ibrox outfit to assess Mejbri’s fit within their squad without a significant upfront investment, potentially securing a talented midfielder who could bolster their team while also providing a pathway for a permanent transfer if both parties are satisfied with his performance.

Philippe Clement will surely be looking for some aggression in midfield which the Tunisia international could provide.
