The former Leicester City player has been given the opportunity to leave Chelsea this summer.

When it has came to progress off the pitch for Leicester City this summer in terms of making strides in regards to new signings, it is safe to say that not enough has been done at this point as the Foxes approach their first league game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Foxes have acted optimistically all summer, targeting the likes of Wilfried Zaha from Champions League side Galatasaray, as well as Bundesliga champion Adam Hlozek from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, neither of the two deals came into fruition, and as a result has left attacking options incredibly scarce, especially with the injuries of Patson Daka and Jamie Vardy.

Whilst Leicester City should be prioritising first and foremost the signings of attacking players for the rest of the summer, one player that has been axed by former Foxes boss Enzo Maresca has become available, and it would be a real statement signing if Steve Cooper’s side looked to pull it off.

Leicester City should consider loan move for Ben Chilwell

Former Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell has become available for transfer from Chelsea, after Maresca made it clear that he is ‘struggling to find the right position’ with the Blues, per Fabrizio Romano on X.

Maresca made it clear that from Chilwell’s point of view, it would be better for him if he ‘leaves and finds minutes’, which could open up the possibility of a loan move for the England international.

Whilst his wages will be too lofty to fully match, it is likely that Leicester City could reach an agreement that saw the Foxes pay just a percentage of the wage, whilst guaranteeing that he will get game time at Premier League level.

Leicester City will have brilliant full-back options if Ben Chilwell signs

Whilst it would certainly be an incredibly optimistic move for Leicester City to move for Chilwell this summer, it would certainly be a signing of intent this window and one that could see Cooper’s full-back options look incredibly healthy.

He will join James Justin, who can play either side at full-back, as well as Ricardo Pereira and Victor Kristiansen, whilst Luke Thomas will more likely move on after struggling in his two loan spells at Sheffield United and Middlesbrough last season.

Whilst it is incredibly difficult to not think about the current issues facing Cooper in attack and also midfield, defensively Leicester City could set up quite well this season and the potential addition of Chilwell would massively help that, as a result of his Premier League, Champions League and international experience, as well as a previous spell with the Foxes, in which he thrived.
