Rangers are eyeing a move for former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams as they look for a cover for the injured Ridvan Yilmaz, according to the Daily Record.
The Turkish left-back is set to be out of action for months after being carried off on a stretcher during the Champions League defeat to Dynamo Kyiv earlier this week, and the Light Blues want a replacement.
Williams is currently a free agent after the Red Devils released him in June, and Rangers have had the 23-year-old on a list of potential targets since the end of last season.
The Ibrox club could now be forced to move for the former Man United full-back whom Gary Neville likes for his passion and style of play. The 6ft defender mainly plays as a left-back, but he has also been used as a right-back, and Rangers could do with his versatility and experience.
Williams spent the last two seasons out on loan in the English Championship with Norwich City and Ipswich Town, helping the latter secure Premier League promotion last term.
The Man United academy graduate played 51 games for the Old Trafford club and 46 times across his loan spells, and he has the quality to make Rangers tick at the back.
The brilliant tackler can also play in midfield due to his technicality and confidence on the ball, and recruiting his services for free could be a huge boost for manager Philippe Clement and his side.
The Rangers boss needs a squad capable of challenging Celtic if his side are to stop the Hoops from winning a fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title in 2024-25, and adding Williams to their ranks could come in handy.
