Leeds United have been batting away suitors for most of the summer transfer window as they try to keep their star players at the club.
Though despite their best efforts, Crysencio Summerville has joined West Ham and Archie Gray has left for Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s certainly boosted their transfer budget and now the process to find replacements is well underway.
With that said, it has just emerged that Leeds are now interested in signing a rumoured Manchester United midfield target.
Leeds interested in Mandela Keita
According to Gazet van Antwerpen, Leeds United are one of the clubs interested in Royal Antwerp midfielder Mandela Keita.
The Belgium international is also being monitored by Manchester United, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City.
Keita is thought to be worth around £8m, which is certainly a feasible fee for Leeds having just pocketed £65m from player sales.
The Whites are yet to make an official approach at this stage but with the deadline fast approaching, they could test the waters with an opening offer in the coming days.
Leeds also need a left-back
As well as a midfielder, Leeds also need to sign a left-back who can provide competition for Junior Firpo.
Firpo’s been really unfortunate with injuries over the last year so he can’t be expected to play 46 Championship games.
Perhaps a Premier League loan would be a wise use of finances, freeing up the big bucks for a Summerville or Gray replacement.
A telling few weeks lie ahead.
