Celtic looking to beat QPR to Liverpool transfer deal

Scottish champions, Celtic, are set to make a move for Queens Park Rangers target, Owen Beck, with Liverpool ready to listen to permanent and loan offers.

As revealed by Football Insider, Brendan Rodgers’ side are planning to strike a deal for the 22-year-old left-back, who has been a prime target for QPR.

Liverpool are open to listening to any offers for the Welshman, with Marti Cifuentes’ side having already held talks for the player, as per Anthony Joseph. However, no deal has been agreed, meaning Celtic could swoop for his services.

With such competition for places at Liverpool, Beck would find it difficult to break into Arne Slot’s side, hence why he is set to start a new chapter in his career.

Beck a key target for QPR

QPR are said to be in pole position for Beck and have already held talks over a potential loan deal for the player. However, Celtic are reported to be interested in signing the player permanently, as per Sky Sports.

The West London club are keen to bolster their squad ahead of the transfer window, and left-back has been highlighted as an area to strengthen.

The Hoops already have two options available to them in that position, with Kenneth Paal and Morgan Fox. However, Paal only has one year remaining on his current contract, with the player reportedly being wanted by Watford, as per Darren Witcoop.

Unless Paal can put pen to paper on a new deal, then it is likely the R’s will look to sell the defender as the club would not want to see a player of his value leave for free. Therefore, Beck is seen as the ideal replacement.

Beck enjoyed a successful season on loan at Dundee last season, where he made 25 appearances for the club, scoring twice and assisting four times. Despite his potential, Slot is willing to let the Welshman leave to find first team football.
