Sunderland remain on the hunt for further additions after signing three new players this summer.

The Black Cats looked to bring in some more experience to their very young squad and have done exactly that, adding Simon Moore, Alan Browne and Ian Poveda to their ranks.

The trio have almost 400 appearances in the Championship between them, with the latter two likely to play key roles in Sunderland’s bid for promotion.

The Wearside outfit are still under huge pressure to bring in a senior striker though, while they also look likely to boost various different positions in their team too.

While experience has been the main focus so far, Regis Le Bris has also now admitted that he could look to the loan market too.

When asked in his pre-match press conference whether he would look to the top flight for some loan deals (as per The Northern Echo), the head coach said: “Yes, for sure. We are observing all the possibilities.”

The club have found great success in poaching loanees from the Premier League in recent years, with Amad Diallo most recently proving to be a huge success in the 2022-23 season.

There are a number of talented youngsters who could make the move to the second tier this summer and could add plenty of quality to Sunderland’s squad.

Three Premier League loanees Sunderland should target

Myles Lewis-Skelly

Lewis-Skelly is one of a number of Arsenal youngsters who have been gifted plenty of chances to impress during pre-season.

The midfielder was praised for looking ‘diligent’ and ‘composed’ during the Gunners’ 4-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen recently, while Mikel Arteta has admitted that he could earn minutes in the Premier League this season.

Goal have described him as ‘excellent with the ball at his feet’ with an ‘engine needed to be able to get from box to box’, while he has been compared to Granit Xhaka.

The 17-year-old is very highly-rated at Arsenal and while he has been tipped for a big future, he will likely spend most of the campaign with the U21s if he doesn’t leave on loan.

Arsenal may be planning on keeping hold of him but may consider loaning him out if approached.

Sunderland are overloaded with quality midfielders with an attacking threat, but could look to bring in a player more capable of playing in Dan Neil’s position too.

Tyler Morton

The Black Cats could look to snap up the perfect defensive midfielder in Morton.

The ‘Liverpool wonderkid’ spent the last two seasons out on loan with Hull City and Blackburn Rovers and really impressed, racking up 79 Championship appearances and claiming ten goal contributions.

Morton is wanted permanently be the likes of RB Leipzig and Sevilla, so would be an ambitious move for Sunderland.

However, if the Reds do decide to keep him then they could consider loaning him out once again.

Will Lankshear

Lankshear is a player that Sunderland have already expressed interest in and could step up their pursuit after missing out on his teammate Dane Scarlett.

The striker netted 25 goals in 26 matches in all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur U21s last season, earning himself a place in their pre-season schedule after catching Ange Postecoglou’s eye.

Lankshear is yet to make his senior debut and looks likely to be sent out on loan this summer, with GIVEMESPORT reporting that Sunderland are joined by Hull City and Wrexham in their pursuit.
