Rangers have had several issues over the last few seasons with one of them being a lack of firepower and options upfront.

Philippe Clement inherited a shambles of a squad but has started to right the wrongs of previous transfer windows.

A few strikers have been linked, however, only Hamza Igamane has been signed by Rangers with the 21-year old not yet seen in pre-season or competitive action.Rangers fans get good Hamza Igamane news

This has frustrated fans who are keen to see him although images of the striker in training has raised spirits, to a certain degree.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League clash with Dynamo Kyiv, the Rangers manager gave an incite into where the young Moroccan was in his attempts to force his way into the first-team squad:

“Clinton (Nsiala) is training and Hamza is doing part of the training with the group, so step by step he is going to the physical level that we need in training and later in the games.

“He is showing a lot of interesting things with the ball, which we saw from him in the games we saw in Morocco. He is settling in well.

And with the language he is starting to learn his first English words and he is feeling really happy and grateful to be here. He is very determined to become a big player here.” Patience needed as Clement gets Igamane management right

When Hamza Igamane signed, it was clear that Clement was urging the support to be patient.

The step up from the Morrocan league to playing for Rangers is a big one, not just mentally, but in terms of fitness and physicality:

“I am delighted to welcome Hamza to Rangers and we believe he will be a great asset to our squad. He has a lot of talent and potential and he will bring a fresh presence to our attacking options.

“We know it will be a big change in culture and a new country for Hamza to adapt to, but as a club we will support him on and off the pitch to settle in here.”

It might be a source of frustration for some, however, the way that Clement has managed Igamane has been the best approach for the long term.

Put it another way, if he had thrown the young striker in early and he had struggled due to his conditioning, it could have had a lasting impact on his confidence.

Clement has taken all the pressure off Igamane immediately which will, hopefully, allow him to settle quicker and make his transition a smooth one.

He might not have cost a fortune, but the sight of Igamane’s name on a matchday team-sheet will be an exciting proposition and it looks like the manager is starting to get excited too.
