Championship Sunderland are working hard to bring in a new striker, but it won’t be Daniel Jebbison, HITC has been informed.

Jebbison joined Premier League Bournemouth earlier this summer when The Cherries beat a number of clubs to his signature as they persuaded him to leave Sheffield United, where his contract had expired, and move to the South Coast.

Bournemouth have integrated Jebbison into the first-team squad over pre-season and he showed his potential when scoring the winner in their weekend win over La Liga outfit Girona.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Araola has been impressed with Jebbison, but agrees with the club’s hierarchy that a year in the Championship would be best despite the fact they have just sold Dominic Solanke.

Sunderland miss out on Jebbison

HITC has previously confirmed a host of clubs are chasing Jebbison, but one team who have missed out on him is Sunderland.

Sources have confirmed to HITC that following talks with almost half of the Championship, a few have been ruled out and one of those is Sunderland.

Sunderland were one of the teams looking to land Jebbison initially from Sheffield United and then again from Bournemouth, but HITC is told that he will not be heading to Wearside.

Championship battle mounts for Jebbison signature

HITC can reveal some more of the clubs who are working hard to land England youth international Jebbison.

The 21-year-old and his representatives are liaising with Bournemouth to assess the options of which there are many.

HITC can confirm that Norwich, West Brom, Stoke, Hull, Derby, Portsmouth and Stoke have all made approaches to try and land Jebbison.

Leeds also remain keen, but they have been working on bringing in a wide player as a matter of urgency.
