HITC understands that Thomas Frank’s Brentford are closing in on a midfield addition from the Serie A who was once linked with Leeds United.
Thomas Frank’s Brentford have been one of the quieter sides in the Premier League this summer with the £27 million signing of Igor Thiago their only addition this summer.
Much of the talk this summer has been about Ivan Toney, with Atletico Madrid interested in the Englishman whilst there are also keen eyes coming from the Premier League.
HITC now understands that Brentford are closing in on their second signing of the summer with an agreement reached on terms.
Brentford closing in on Jens Cajuste deal
HITC understands that Brentford have finalised a deal with Napoli to sign midfielder Jens Cajuste this summer.
The 24-year-old Swedish international will move to West London on a season-long loan with an option to become permanent at £10 million.
However, there are understood to be clauses in the deal that could potentially see the Swedes’ loan deal become a loan with a mandatory option to buy.
Cajuste has spent just one season at Napoli after moving from Ligue 1 side Reims but it now seems the Frenchman will be heading to the Premier League.
The midfielder made 26 Serie A appearances for Napoli but started just 11 of these games for the Italian giants with the Frenchman providing just two assists for the club.
Sources have told HITC that Napoli are allowing Cajuste to move as they are close to finalising terms with Brighton & Hove Albion for Billy Gilmour.
Napoli closing in on Brighton’s Billy Gilmour
HITC had previously reported that Antonio Conte is a big fan of Gilmour and is keen on bringing the Scotsman to Naples.
Gilmour has already agreed terms on a move to the Diego Maradona Stadium and the former Chelsea midfielder is set to sign a five-year deal.
The deal to take Gilmour to Italy is set to be around £20 million, which is a £10 million profit on the deal with the BBC reporting that Brighton originally paid Chelsea £10 million for the midfielder.
As for Cajuste, Leeds United were once interested in the French midfielder but missed out on the signing of the 24-year-old.
Back in the 2020-21 season, during his time at Midtjylland, Cajuste was behind only Lionel Messi in his dribbling numbers according to WhoScored. He could be an exciting signing for the Bees.
