Liverpool and Brentford have concrete interest in ‘animal’ striker, £26m bid tabled

Liverpool and Brentford have both had quiet summer windows so far but they now find themselves in a transfer battle over a striker.

The Reds are the only Premier League side yet to complete a signing this summer, while Brentford’s only signing is Igor Thiago, who joined for a club-record fee of £30million.

Both Premier League clubs are in the market for a centre-forward this summer. There are doubts growing at Anfield over Darwin Nunez, while Thomas Frank may be bracing for the departure of Ivan Toney.

HITC revealed in July that Atletico Madrid have joined Tottenham and Arsenal in the race for Toney this summer.

Both clubs have turned their attention towards Germany, and in particular, Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier.

Liverpool and Brentford interest in Bundesliga star

According to German outlet Sport Bild, Liverpool and Brentford have a “concrete interest” in Beier this summer.

The report adds that the 21-year-old forward is a top target for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, but they are facing competition from the Premier League duo.

They claim Brentford have already tabled a bid of 30million Euros (£26million) for Beier this summer.

Beier reportedly wants to make a decision in the coming days with several offers on the table.

Liverpool and their Merseyside rivals Everton have previously shown an interest in Beier, and the Reds are back in the race for his signature.

Liverpool striker target is an ‘animal’

Not only is Beier lethal in front of goal – proven by his 16 goals in the Bundesliga last season – but he is also blessed with incredible pace.

He recorded a top speed of 35.45kmph in the Bundesliga last season, a pace only bettered by Leroy Sane in Germany.

Hoffenheim coach Pellegrino Matarazzo called Beier an “animal on the pitch” when speaking to Sports Illustrated.
