LEICESTER CITY CONSIDERING TRANSFER SWOOP FOR £13m STAR WHO SHONE AT THE PARIS OLYMPICS

Leicester City are looking to sign a player who recently impressed at the Paris Olympics.

 

The Foxes are set to ply their trade in the Premier League in the upcoming season after dominating the Championship under Enzo Maresca.

Leicester City finished first in the second division, securing themselves a swift return to the top flight.

 

However, the man who masterminded their promotion charge, Maresca, has now left the King Power Stadium for Chelsea.

 

In a major blow to the Midlands outfit, the Argentine took Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Stamford Bridge with him.

 

The Englishman scored 12 and assisted 15 for the Foxes during their promotion-winning season and his departure has left a big hole in the Foxes’ squad.

Leicester want to bring Arthur Melo back to the Premier League as they aim to bolster their midfield ranks.

Steve Cooper is eager for Leicester to replace Dewsbury-Hall this summer and the club have been linked with several new midfielders already.

 

The former Nottingham Forest boss has asked Leicester to sign Sunderland midfielder, Pierre Ekwah.

Now, another central midfielder is said to be of interest to those in a position of power at the King Power.

 

Morocco faced off with Spain in the semi-finals of the men’s football tournament at the Paris Olympics on August 5th.

 

The African outfit were bested by two goals to one but their exit is good news for Leicester.

 

The Athletic report Stade Reims midfielder Amir Richardson is now free to secure a summer transfer after Morocco were knocked out of the Olympics this week.

Richardson shone in Paris where Leicester were closely tracking his progress, and the club are now considering a move.

 

Reims value the 22-year-old at around £13m, with Leicester set to face competition from several Serie A sides for his services.

Richardson was born in Nice, France, and began his youth career with OGC Nice.

The midfielder moved to Le Havre AC’s U19 side in 2019 and spent three years with the club.

 

The Moroccon featured 69 times for Le Havre in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

 

He was sold to Stade Reims in August 2022 for around £1.7m before being loaned back to his previous side for the 2022/23 campaign.

 

Richardson made his senior debut for Reims in 2023/24, going on to score three and assist one in 28 Ligue 1 matches.

 

The former Nice product is a natural central midfielder but he is also capable of operating in a slightly more defensive role at the base of midfield.

 

Richardson was handed his Morrocco debut in September 2023 and has so far notched seven caps for his country.
