Leeds United have just decided to cash in on Crysencio Summerville as the Dutchman leaves to join West Ham, and he could be joined in leaving Elland Road by another key player.
Summerville becomes the seventh player sold by Leeds this summer as The 49ers desperately try to take in some cash to ease Profit & Sustainability Rules concerns and avoiding a possible points deduction.
He follows Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente, Kris Klaesson and Charlie Cresswell in leaving for a fee. But Leeds could still lose more key stars before the end of the summer transfer window.
Indeed, Georginio Rutter and Illan Meslier are just two of a number of players to have attracted interest this summer. Another of course, is Summerville’s best mate Wilfried Gnonto with plenty of clubs keen.
Reports say Genoa and Parma are interested in Gnonto
Still only 20, Italy star Gnonto caught the eye in the Premier League but after a difficult summer in which he tried to force an exit – perhaps influenced by his agents – he lost his place in Daniel Farke’s starting XI.
He won it back in the second half of last season and showed glimpses, but went missing in a number of games too. Despite his below-par 2023-24 campaign, he still has a number of clubs interested in a move.
A report this week said newly-promoted Parma and Genoa are interested in signing Gnonto. It comes after Everton were looking at Gnonto again, but are unlikely to sign him with Jesper Lindstromg on board.
Now, Ampadu’s old club want to sign Gnonto in new report
Inter Live now claim that Ampadu’s old loan side Venezia want to lure Gnonto to Italy. The report also states that Genoa and Parma are interested but the trio only want a loan deal with an option to buy.
That is unlikely to suit Leeds, who would rather cash in hand this summer. Inter Live also say that Gnonto is ‘unlikely’ to stay at Elland Road this summer, he’s set to be on the move before the end of the window.
But Gnonto did start against Valencia on Saturday in Leeds’ last friendly and the chances are that he gets the nod against Portsmouth next Saturday, with Farke saying he is unlikely to make wholesale changes.
