SEAN DYCHE BACKS COVENTRY CITY FOR PROMOTION AFTER EVERTON WIN

Coventry City opposition view from CoventryLive as Everton boss Sean Dyche gives his take on Tuesday night’s 3-0 Sky Blues’ victory over his Premier League outfit

Sean Dyche is backing Coventry City to gain promotion after witnessing the Championship side pick off his Everton outfit with an impressive performance at the CBS Arena.

The Toffees’ boss believes the Sky Blues are ‘game ready’ for the new season after goals from his former striker Ellis Simms, Ephron Mason-Clark and Victor Torp saw the hosts earn a 3-0 win over the Premier League visitors.

“We showed how many players we’re missing, and very important players,” said Dyche, who was without the likes of James Tarkowski and Idrissa Gueye, “but credit to Mark (Robins) and his team. I thought they were excellent and they look game ready, certainly on that performance, that’s for sure.

“Their habits were good, the shape of the team and they’re a team that’s played together and went close last year to getting promotion. And, certainly on that performance, you’d fancy that for this coming season.”

He added: “I know how competitive the Championship teams are. I thought they [ Coventry ] were super-competitive tonight. We weren’t as competitive. I am expecting a little bit of a delay on that from our group because we are missing some important players, too many at the moment – that is out of our hands with injuries, but really I am looking for players to go ‘go on then, show us, show us the edge that you want, show us the edge that you know that you can step in and put doubt in our mind.”
