The move leaves Rangers with Leon Balogun, John Souttar and Ben Davies propping up the defence, with major doubts over the recent injury history of the club’s defensive options.

According to reliable Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Rangers have agreed a fee with Twente over the transfer of the centre-back ahead of the new season.

The report claims Rangers have an ‘agreement in principle’ with both the Dutch club and Robin Pröpper himself with a medical now set to take place in Glasgow.

Whilst for the time being it remains unclear how much Rangers will pay for the ex-De Graafschap and Heracles centre-back, the move will be welcomed by supporters.

Robin Pröpper is the brother of former Brighton and PSV star Davy Pröpper and made 40 appearances for Twente last season as they finished 3rd in the Dutch top flight.

Rangers boost squad ahead of QR3 deadline

Rangers will now hope to complete a deal for Robin Pröpper ahead of Thursday August 1st’s Champions League QR3 squad registration deadline.

The Gers support were getting a little antsy heading into this week with fans waiting for news of new signings to break in Glasgow.

Nils Koppen is the man tasked with revamping the Rangers squad alongside Philippe Clement this summer and finally things are starting to move.

Robin Pröpper certainly appears a natural replacement for the outgoing Connor Goldson and Rangers fans will be delighted to see someone with clear leadership abilities come into the team.

Attentions will then quickly turn to other areas of the park with Rangers actively searching for a new midfielder and winger ahead of Thursday’s QR3 deadline.
