Rangers have made a bid for FC Porto forward Goncalo Borges in their quest to reinforce their attack, according to Record.
The Portuguese newspaper reported via their print edition on 28 July (page 31) that the Gers are one of two teams that have made a bid for the attacker.
The report details that there are also other clubs vying for his transfer but Philippe Clement’s team alongside Strasbourg were the only ones who made “concrete” proposals to the club.
Goncalo Borges would be a stellar addition for Rangers
Rangers are in dire need of attacking reinforcement this summer. Although Cyriel Dessers managed 22 goals across all competitions last season, he could well soon be exit-bound to fund new arrivals.
Borges is more of a winger than a central player but his versatility to play on either flank would no doubt be of use to the club.
The Portugal youth international has been a fairly regular player for FC Porto and has played a total 50 times for the Portuguese giants.
During that time he’s only managed a total of three assists for the senior squad but could no doubt be developed into a stronger player.
Clement has been a man on a mission this summer and has made the Gers one of the most changed teams in Europe.
Although one transfer isn’t guaranteed to make much of a difference, the fact that the club would have alternative options and a replacement for wantaway Todd Cantwell is vital for the team this season.
