Bojan Miovski won’t be moving to Rangers this summer and Philippe Clement is running out of time to get new signings in and up to speed before the season starts, Derek Ferguson says.

According to the Scottish Daily Mail on 1 July the Light Blues have an interest in the Aberdeen star as they look for a replacement for their exit-linked main striker from last season Cyriel Dessers.

Philippe Clement has publicly admitted he has to sell before he can buy [Daily Record, 13 July] and major exits are only just starting to get under way now, when the Scottish Premiership opener against Hearts on 3 August is just over one week away.

Ferguson doesn’t think the Gers will have a chance to land Miovski because Jimmy Thelin will be want to keep him and is growing concerned that no new proven goalscorer has arrived to get up to speed with Clement’s plans through preseason.

He spoke exclusively to Ibrox News and said: “I get that you’ve got to get people out the door before you can get players in.

“But every manager, and there’s a new manager at Aberdeen as well, will probably start with the boy [Miovski]. I don’t see him going to Rangers.

“And I think we’re going to find ourselves in a pretty sticky situation at the start of the season.

Also with the stadium, playing away from it, it’s an absolute nightmare and we’ve got Champions League qualifiers coming up as well.

“We need these guys through the door. We need them working with the manager at the moment.

“And it ain’t going to happen. This is why there’s a lot of disappointment among Rangers supporters because at a time we’re supposed to be excited we’re not getting these players in.”

Aberdeen star out of reach for Rangers

Departures are starting to get moving as Connor Goldson heads for Aris Limassol [Scottish Sun, 24 July] and James Tavernier is set for Trabzonspor [Rangers Review, 23 July].

Exits for attacking players who are surplus to requirements are also starting to materialise with both Ianis Hagi [SportspeSure, 21 July] and Sam Lammers [Andrea Losapio, 24 July] seemingly near to moves.

But even if all deals can be pushed through quickly now there is minimal time to get replacements in and familiar with the set up before matches are coming thick and fast.

Add in the lack of home advantage with Ibrox out of action and Rangers look like kicking off the campaign understrength and at a disadvantage unless a lot changes in a short space of time.
