AC Milan are ‘closing in’ on the signing of a reported Wolves transfer target.
Earlier this month, Salzburg defender Strahinja Pavlovic was touted as a possible replacement for Max Kilman who they sold to West Ham for a reported £40m. They along with Brentford, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest had all been interested according to multiple reports, but the centre-back won’t be coming to the Premier League this summer.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have made an €18m offer to Salzburg for Pavlovic, but the Austrian side are holding out for a little bit more. The Italian side want to get a deal done quickly before they jet off to the United States, with their first being against Premier League champions this Saturday (July 27).
Pavlovic has reportedly informed Salzburg of his desire to leave, and the likelihood is that a €20m transfer will be agreed, and that’s €10m less than what Salzburg were initially holding out for. Get Italian Football News say that the expectation is that the move will go through soon with a move ‘closer than ever’ following numerous meetings from the representatives of the two clubs and the player.
Despite only being 23, Pavlovic has already played in Serbia, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria. He began with Partizan, before being sold to Monaco, and then he had loans with Cercle Brugge and FC Basel, before being sold to Salzburg.
The 23-year-old was ever present for Serbia at EURO 2024 as they exited at the group stage, which included England, Slovenia and Denmark. Pavlovic, worth €25m according to TransferMarkt, has already been capped 38 times for the national team, and could make his 50th appearance before he turns 25.
He has just come off a season where Salzburg didn’t win the title for the first time since 2013. Pavlovic played 37 times across all competitions, scoring four times, whilst also providing three assists.
