HITC sources have confirmed that Aston Villa have agreed a £50million deal to sell Moussa Diaby.

Aston Villa‘s club-record signing is set to join Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad after they made an offer that would smash their own transfer record.

Al-Ittihad are set to pay just over £50million to Villa for Moussa Diaby – the same price Villa paid Bayer Leverkusen for the French winger back in 2023.

HITC revealed last week that Al-Ittihad were in talks with Villa over a deal for Diaby.

Sources close to the deal told HITC that Diaby made it clear to Villa that he would like the chance to move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Villa initially wanted to keep hold of the 25-year-old but manager Unai Emery sanctioned President of football operations Monchi to do the deal.

Aston Villa star set for medical in 48 hours

With the fee now agreed and Villa giving the green light for Diaby’s exit, all parts of the deal are beginning to fall into place.

HITC understands that Diaby is now expected in Saudi Arabia for his medical in the next 48 hours ahead of the deal being finalised.

Diaby is set to become Villa’s fourth sale of the summer after Douglas Luiz, Tim Iroegbunam, Morgan Sanson and Viljami Sinisalo all left the club.

What next for Aston Villa?

Losing Diaby inflicts a significant blow to Emery’s squad – he scored 10 goals and made nine assists for Villa last season.

However, Villa are confident that they are already well placed to cover Diaby’s departure after bringing Samuel Illing-Junior and Jayden Philogene to Villa Park this summer.

Villa have also completed deals for Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley.
