Neil Lennon is reportedly on the verge of landing Celtic forgotten man Ben Siegrist.
Swiss shotstopper Siegrist, 32, is free to leave Parkhead this summer after a difficult two years in Glasgow. The former Dundee United No1 was signed by Ange Postecoglou on a free transfer but has managed just a handful of games for the Scottish champions. He failed to make a single appearance last season and hasn’t kicked a ball since starting for Celtic in a 4-0 win at Motherwell in October 2022.
Siegrist is desperate to leave Celtic as he looks to kickstart his career elsewhere and the Daily Record reports that he’s been offered an escape route by Lennon’s Rapid Bucharest.
It’s said that Siegrist has been granted permission to travel to Romania for talks as Hoops legend Lenny seeks to finalise a permanent deal.
Brendan Rodgers is happy to offload the out-of-favour keeper having snapped up Denmark No1 Kasper Schmeichel and Finland international Viljami Sinisalo. Celts also have Scott Bain on the books as third-choice.
